All about raising chicks and chickens! Also ask questions!

I just had my one Banty hatch 4 chicks a day ago. I have a heat lamp set up for them would i have to or would they be ok with out it? View attachment 553728
What is your weather like? I never have to deal with snow and freezing temps but you may, which could mean I would never have to add artificial heat for my birds...you may. It all depends on your personal weather. Will the Bantu be raising them? Or are you moving them away from her?

We are just starting spring here so some warm days some cold days. This week we are getting around 17-20 degrees during the day and tHen down to 8 or 9 at night. So not real warm yet and yes they are staying with their Mom.

If your chicks are being raised with their mother a heat lamp is necessary, their mother will keep them warm.
When they are cold, they will go under their mother. How cold is it where you are? If it is too cold then I Would get a heat lamp in case you need it!
