All blue egg shells with rich amber yolks

I am a backyard duck keeper and commonly comment on the BYC duck threads. Now I have a question about hens eggs!!

We have been buying organic eggs "laid on small family farms" from Costco and wondered what breed of "heirloom" chickens produce medium sized, blue shelled eggs with rich amber yolks. I think we might like to branch out into backyard chickens!

Many breeds and crosses (EEs) will lay blue eggs, I have an Ameraucana that lays a blue/green egg everyday.
As for the egg yolks, that comes from what they’re fed/forage. I’ve heard some places will feed marigolds for this reason.

My whiting true blue lays large blue eggs that are for sure store quality. And they are productive layers for being colored layers. That and they are beautiful birds. I’d look into those for sure

I just pulled eggs and had a a few from her. I put them on top of the pile for size reference.

These 2 blue eggs in the carton are from a whiting true blue. (They look slightly lighter in person than in the photo.)

It looks like you have some bright blue eggs in there. Are those also from the Whiting true blue?

Yep those are from my whiting. Btw she’s the most friendly and sweetest chicken I have. Great temperament
