All 'Blues' the same for breeding ratios? d'Uccles, too?

I do understand about tacking! That answer makes perfect sense.

My goal is perfection in form and color, with personality being critical to both as well. The roo with the good color/ bad form is also a nasty little bugger. I just don't like him, as a representative sample of the breed. I ONLY like his color.

The porcelain is perfect in form & pale porcelain color. Can't say much about his personality yet, since he was raised by someone else and is still jumpy around me (unless I'm holding bread). I'll win him over. I dearly love his look, even if he's the wrong color he's a MUCH better type.

Will the porcelain wash the lavender away, though? If that's the case, I'll stick with my rotten lavender boy and work from their on perfecting the form.

Your porcelain bird is also lavender. Porcelain is the effect of the lavender gene on what would otherwise be a mille fleur bird.
If you are aiming for a completely lavender bird you might be better off looking for a black of excellent type & using your less nice lavender. If you get red leaking through on a black based colour it can be pretty difficult to get rid of.

I've NEVER seen a nice black d'Uccle in my area at all. Actually, I've never seen a black d'Uccle at ALL. Would love to, but then I'd want them, and I think I have my hands full right now.

If porcelain is an expression of the lavender gene, then I'm thinking I'd prefer the porcelain boy over the lavender girls and go for type first. I REALLY don't want to see those wattles any more!

Then I can 'tack' back towards color.

But in all honesty I'll probably do a batch with one roo, wait, and then do a batch with the other and compare results. A winter project in my new shed...
Need to see if DD2 needs a science project this year!

I recently hatched eggs from Halo's stock. There were 4 eggs that were from her blue rock roo over EEs. Of these, 2 were beautiful blacks (one pullet, one roo) and one was a gorgeous blue. (Haven't figured out which of the others is the 4th rock/EE cross - only these 3 have the muttonchops and beard.) The big surprise to me is that there is no pattern whatsoever in these chicks that is reminiscent of halo's EE hens.
If anyone can help explain the inheritance here, I would love to hear it! I have been reading the threads on the blue inheritance, lacing, etc., but can't see how it applies to this outcome.

Here are photo's of the 2 rock/EE roos (both seeking new flocks, by the way, if anyone is interested).

I've seen pictures and they're gorgeous!
And there may be some in the US, but I haven't seen any in TN. I do appreciate your input, though.

I was really hoping to just get rid of the lavender roo, but I'm seeing now that it may not be so simple. So I'll learn about the genetics of my birds through experience.

I'll post some pics when I get them home from the show. The girls are not only pretty and of good form, but as sweet as pie.

Yup. I've just never seen them in this area.
I think they are still pretty rare in the US. Only porcelain, black mottled, millies & blues are 'easy' to get.... Easy being a relative term
