From the offspring both parents carried the barring gene. The cockerel has two copies so he had to get one copy from each parent.
I'd suspect your leghorn rooster is actually a white rock rooster. The white rocks I had were recessive white over barred. Recessive white takes two copies to be expressed. If he was a recessive white over barred all his offspring would get a white gene but it wouldn't show so he would breed as a barred.
If that was the case crosses with a barred rock hen the offspring would be exactly what you got.
Breed those offspring together and id bet you'd get around 75% barred offspring and around 25% white offspring.
I agree with other posters, this rooster is a white rock, not a leghorn.I can also get pics of the children who are now full grown but it will be hard to find a pic of the mom here is the dadView attachment 2109497
Yeah, now that I take a closer look on it, the rooster built is rather heavy and White Rocks are known to carry Barring under the white...I agree with other posters, this rooster is a white rock, not a leghorn.
