All eggs layed then 2 soft shells...seems weird

I had all 11 of my chickens lay eggs within 24 hours and yet overnight they layed 2 soft shells within that same 24 hours. I get a few soft shells here and there and never concerned cause my babies are only 6 and 7 months old and almost all my eggs are hard as rocks. How the heck does that happen when aren't eggs layed no more than 27ish hours apart. Or all the typical egg rules off when it comes to soft shells. And 2, not , in the same night.

Yes, this is out of the ordinary, all right. Having it occur with one layer is rare, let alone two.

On thing, genetics comes to mind. Are these hatchery birds or from a private breeder where they could share the same genes?

Another thing that could affect their laying these redundant eggs is stress. Has anything occurred in the last week that has put stress on them - predator visit, heavy storms, changes in feed or living arrangements?

But these things do happen from time to time with new layers. It shouldn't be a regular thing. If it is, then worry.

No stress, my chickens have it made. They did come from a feed store so who knows.....They seem ok. I am trying to figure out who did it but with everyone laying it's hard to figure out LOL!

Definitely not lack of calcium cause they get fed a lot. And for the most part I get normal eggs and they are super hard.

What and how exactly do you feed?
How long have they been laying?
How big is coop in feet by feet for your 11 birds?

'Stress' can be something we are unaware of,
or could just be a glitch in the machinery.
With chickens, expect the unexpected.
