Here's Rex and one of the BR pullets, now named Wynette. Sure is hot today, maybe a good thing for these particular Rocks to be slower to feather! You can see Rex dropping his wing to cool off-sure has lots of fuzz still, doesn't he? The other two BR girls are named Dottie and Ida. My DH's aunt Dot died recently and we had a mutual friend named Ida, plus my old piano teacher was also named Ida.

My splash Rock, named Gloria Jean. Kathy, you were asking about the size of the BR girls compared to this one. They are really bulking up, I noticed, passing GJ by leaps and bounds. I'm betting they'll give your lines the bulk you're looking for:

I love my namesake thank you. She is really pretty. I have a new splash from Beth from Cloud the hen I had given her of Stormys. He was a splash roo from the first splash roo you gave me from Suede. That line is sooo large.

The splash are esp. tall. I have 30 chicks now that are mixed run. There is going to be lots of males I fear. I might get a flock of 10 or so hens. That would be great.

Those BR pullets are chunky ladies, Stan. They're really bulking up nicely. They are roasting in their coop tonight. It's so darn hot out there and everyone wants to crowd on the top roost bar, the goofballs. I have two fans on them, hoping this late spring heat wave will die down soon. To think that just a couple weeks ago, it was still cold enough at night for a heat lamp!

I need a little help figuring out what breed one of my chicks are- I thought it was a Buff Orpington but the more her feathers are coming in, the more I think she is a RIR- what to you all think?

Here she is around 1wk old

She is about 2-3 weeks old here

I am hoping this one is certainly a Buff Orpington -

Your first one looks like a Rhode Island Red or a Production Red (RIR/NH cross or other similar hatchery cross). The second looks like a Buff Orpington.
