Alrighty, 3 of the 4 grocery store eggs are growing. I removed one, and when I opened it, found that it was infertile. Oh well.

The marans are coming right along. They're on day 12 or 13 at this point. I can't believe how time has flown!

Thank you so much! He is only 20 weeks old, so he's still such a baby. I think he is pretty cute, too, though He's always been an eyecatcher, from day 1. I hatched him and his girlfriend out (along with 5 other babies) so this little one which is incubating out of his and his girls pen will be my first real homebred bird!

I looked at my eggs and I have 15 still going strong, and 3 maybes. Pretty excited about this bunch

Anyway, I always set eggs for Christmas eve and I just received 24 silkie eggs and am waiting on 24 more next week...

grocery store eggs are fertile?!

lol not all of them. Your highest chances for fertile eggs are from organic grocery store chains like Whole Foods or Trader Joes. They will purposefully sell fertile eggs. Cage Free or Free Range also has chances of being fertile because oopsy roos can get into the flocks.

Im setting my first batch of eggs ever on Dec 3rd. This is my test run I will be setting a dozen EE eggs. Im so excited I cant wait. My incubator was supposed to be my christmas gift but It came early from my hubby so now the chicks will be my gift

Welcome Chicken Pickin! Good luck with your first batch, that's super exciting! I remember mine. Didn't sleep the entire night, lol.

I decided to check my "maybe" eggs...there were 3 of them...two have moving babies in them. Only one of them looks like a for sure quitter, but I am going to leave that one, too, in case I am wrong about it. will pull it out on day 14 (if it has not developed any more or looks dead) when I candle everyone again...that'll be Saturday.
