All my babies are dying!

Worms in babies!!! How AWFUL. Corid treats Coccidiosis.... Dosage: 1.5 teaspoons (NO LESS) of 20% powder per gallon OR 2 teaspoons of 9.6% liquid per gallon. Make sure it's the *ONLY* water they can access during treatment, give it to them for 5-7 days, and mix fresh at least once daily. Valbazen liquid goat wormer gets every worm a chicken can get. Wazine also works well for roundworms. The dose for Valbazen is: 1/2cc for standard adult chickens, 1/4cc for bantams and pullets... I imagine you'd barely need a tiny drop for a chick. I have no idea what the "official" dose would be for that. Repeat dosage in 5 days. Give orally undiluted. I do not know the dose for Wazine, but I *think* there might be a way to put it in their water. Both Valbazen and Corid can usually be found at your local feed store or you can order it online. I hope that helps!! MrsB
Our local Coop has both so we are headed to get some, Thanks!

I was able to get the corrid but they were out of wormer even though i called, will roundworm kill them if i dont get it soon enough? Or coccidia more lethal? Also are me and my kids at risk for getting worms because we handel the chicks?

Not likely that you will get worms at all. The chicks ate soil that contained worm eggs. As long as you don't start eating soil or chicken poo, you'll be fine. Both are deadly to chicks, if not treated promptly.

OK thanks i can sleep much better tonight knowing that! lol some websites said humans could get roundworm from animals but wasnt species specific. i did start the corrid tonight, hopefully i can find the wormer tomorrow, and hopefully no more pass until i get some and the results from other testing, so far we havent had anymore ((knocks on wood)) but im still nervous about the rest of the results!

Hope she gets shut down, too, but I would suggest you think twice about purchasing animals from a place such as this. Sadly, you are only taking on their problems, and exposing your own flock to whatever they have. And, you don't want to give these people money, anyway.

Results are in and im in tears they all had coccidia, roundworm and 2 types of microplasma one is MS,the other is MG both are reportable and they are now turning theyre investigation to her. Horrid news to say the least, these babies are all under 1 month of age and now have to be culled

I want to fight the person you got these birds from. I am SO sorry she took advantage of you like this and, in the process, has created an environment where these diseases THRIVE.

MG/MS can infect wild birds, that can then carry it to neighboring farms and infect other poultry and other wild birds, so on and so forth. Kinda like the disease that wiped out all those turkeys a year or so ago.

I feel for you and your babies... I know this is heartbreaking for you. Take some solace that you did the BEST you could for those sweet babies who didn't deserve the troubles they were hatched into.

As to the worms, it's doubtful you'd contract anything from your chicks... just make sure you wash your hands.

Absent Valbazen, Wazine works well on roundworms, and I believe Safeguard goat wormer or horse paste works, too.

Have you called her a demanded a refund and a SINCERE apology?

I'm grateful they're investigating her. Please keep us posted on the outcome.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope they shut this woman down and she is never able to sell or raise chickens again.
