All my crazy projet ideas!

Oh yeah!
Are you going to pair her with any males?
I have plans for her to go back in with my Phoenix group. So would be paired up with King for now. I was thinking of putting her with a Silver Ameraucana Male once I have my 1st and 2nd ones picked and pulled off the flocks.

The Phoenix project is kinda about getting close to the Schijndelaar.

(not my photo, and shout out to GF, two of my Spitz are from them)

I love blue and green eggs and it's been hard to find breeds that have been started to fill what I want. My solution was and is to make my own. I don't expect to be breeding true on color for a long time. **Main goal is getting birds that look like Phoenix, Schijndelaar or Sumatran that lay blue/green eggs.** I didn't go Sumatra because of temperament.

Project 1: Phoenix type blue/green layer.

Project 2: Crested blue/green layer. I like the Crevecoeur body type but the Spitzhauben crest so that's what I'm shooting for on that project.

Project 3: This is the classic Ameraucana type but Blue silver and Blue Golden duck-wing coloring.

Project 4: Bantam Phoenix type blue/green layer. (because I'm useing bantams to achieve some things in the other projects.)

Project 5: Bantam Crested blue/green layer. (because I'm useing bantams to achieve some things in the other projects.)

Color for the 1, 2, 4 and 5 projects is not really set. I would like to keep it close to duck-wing and birchen in pattern and what I could do with those colors. I like the Colombian color and laced but those would be harder to achieve. If I get birds I like with a color close to Colombian or laced Ill consider keeping them. I don't know if I want to go with Lavender in one project or just have them all blue. Really torn on that decision. I like both but don't want to get them mixed if I can help it.

Anything beyond those four or five projects are ADHD fantasies.

This next spring I'm going to add a few more Crevecoeur, maybe a few silver laced Polish, if not Polish it will be some other silver laced breed. Instead of Polish I might add Barbu De Watermael due to crest being less of a hindrance for the chickens. Might add a few more OEGBs if the colors are correct or Dutch bantams. Yokohama may be something I look at as well.

I really need to sell off the stock I have that is not inline with my projects. The Cochin ladies, the rose-combs that are not a color I would want. The silkies are staying .... I have unfortunately fallen in love with them.

Anyway sorry for the Hijacking of the thread again. I need to put this post on my Project thread. I need to buckle down and get some good pictures of whats going in what pen and get pens finished. I've been having issues of a personal kind that have interrupted my flow that I'm working on so my chickens can be prioritized in the future.

I was lookin on eBay and found some Ginger Reds and thought, man that hens pattern looks just like my “silver quail”. Come to find out there are silver gingers. I believe my pair are actually silver gingers and not a weird looking silver quail (thought it was silver quail bc someone had told me that was the closed thing they looked like). I asked NatJ and nicalandia how in the world my fawn and porcelain produced them, I’ll let y’all know what they say.

Incase anyone was curious here is what NatJ said
Dad (Fawn Silver Ducwking OEGB) gave the genes for Silver Duckwing, with some chicks probably inheriting the Fawn part and some not. (I don't notice Fawn in the pictures you included.)

Mom (Porcelain OEGB) gave a dominant gene for Columbian, which reduces the amount of black in the birds (especially obvious in the breast of the male, which is obviously not black).

Mom gave one recessive gene for lavender and one recessive gene for mottling, but neither of those is visible in the chicks.

Mom also gave a recessive gene for gold to her sons, which is probably why the male's hackle and saddle feathers yellowish rather than a clean silver color white. This would not affect the females among the mixed chicks.

Here is what Amer said
Silver ginger is silver duckwing with Dark Brown/Ginger. Considering that Columbian is similar to Db it's no surprise the result looks similar.

In my incubator I’ve got the same OEGB eggs, white black tailed jap, brown red jap, buff silkies, buff Brahma bantams, Millie Fleur D’Uccles and Millie Fleur booted bantam. They won’t hatch until a couple more weeks.
Forgot to post saddly I only have two Millie Fleurs hatch. I believe it was a humidity problem. My big incubator kept going from 35% to 60% so I think that killed them.

I am back with another projet update! :p

I've been talking to a breeder down south of me, and he's going to sell me 2 bb red hens out of bb golden. Fun fact, they are directly from Elvis Pate!
He's also going to sell me a trio of whites! - Edit to add the whites are Lance Dore line. -

This guy is awesome, shout out to Tell Orton in Southern UT.
