Yea I think that would be a great idea! I was wondering if one of the local Tractor Supply's would be interested in hosting one. I wonder if there was enough of us, if we could get the HOT in Waco to start doing shows again.

Hey thats where I got my chicks, and there doing great! He has a nice sutup. Did you look at any of his other birds....hes got everything out there.

Lol, when you said what you had I thought that might be where you got them. Yea I went over there on a Sunday, right after they got out of church so I didnt want to keep him too long. I noticed that he had a bunch of BOs in his yard. I wanted to see if he wouldnt mind me taking a look around his yard at the setup, but I didnt want to bother him. Im sure they wanted to go eat lunch or something. He was a really nice guy, real friendly. I would buy from him again.

I would be intrested in a swap day. I kinda know the manager of the Waco TSC, if yall want I will talk to him and see if we can use there parking lot.....

Please do!

Any idea what we could do for dates? Maybe talk to tsc manager about that as well? see when they might maybe be available?

Remember...tsc has chick days coming up soon, so they might not want us to do anything during that time.

Oh that would be cool. I would love to go, although I dont have anything to swap right now. I might be interested in getting some new.

No I didnt go. I didnt think it would be worth it. I havent heard a lot of good things about it. Everyone I talked to said they were disappointed. Hopefully we can get something set up at the Waco TSC and everyone meet up there. If not to buy/sell/trade then to just meet one another and whatnot..

There was an interesting "trade days/ livestock market" south of San Antonio off 1604 near 281. I guess it's set up every Sunday. The guy has some interesting stuff... has some real pretty doves or pigeons, peafowl, emu, banties, misc laying chickens, donkeys, etc. I saw some naked neck roosters, but he had no hens for sale. He had one cage with a bunch of cream colored hens but couldn't tell me what breed they were. I wish I had taken a photo.

I wasn't able to go to the poultry thing this past Sunday. I did a dry run on Saturday, to make sure I could find it...but either I am blind, or I passed someone's HOUSE that it's held at.
There were not any buildings that looked like open-to-the-public type out there around those numbers on Briggs road. No signs posted, nothing that makes any of the buildings stand out, no parking areas.... NOTHING that indicates any type of sale of anything....cept for a beef ranch WAAAAAAAAAAY down the road lol. It is VERY pretty out there though!

If you're looking for something more exotic (waterfowl, peafowl, etc) you could always go to the Lampasas exotic animal auction. I do not know when it is held, but it is right off a main highway and easy to find. I have heard of folks buying barnyard birds there...silky ducks, "curly" geese (sebbies, most likely) and peafowl there.

Sometimes you can find this stuff at the local flea markets (bell county, belton, any larger flea market) too...but those are VERY hit-or-miss.

On craigslist theres a person getting rid of laying hens b/c they can't feed them anymore! And thye are laying!

Strange... but life happens.

Hope this helps!
