Hoof and Hen Ranch, Could you send me a pic of your Araucanas? I've been driving all over Texas on wild goose chases for Araucanas. I'm sure you know what breed you have but you'd be surprised at the people that don't. If you have the rumpless/tufted I definitely want some. Eggs, or chicks would be great.

Barnwife, Thanks for the offer but I have loads of EE's. It sounds like you have some nice ones.

ltlchicken, I found him,Paul Smith, Gainesville, TX.
He might be the closest, only 2 hrs drive.

I want to thank everyone for their help. If I can return the favor just holler!

Hey you RIR fans. I have (8) 10 week olds and some RIR(RC) eggs from Iowa in the bator along with Buckeyes from Iowa also. Does anyone else have any of those?

Nate

Hi everybody! I live in Houston and would be really interested in a speckled sussex pullet and a welsummer pullet, about 4 months old. Anybody know anybody that might have either of these? I'm strictly backyard for eggs type, so I really can't take more than one of each since I already have 7 various pullets, but I promise a really good home and don't mind driving 2-3 hours to get 'em.

I have five speckled sussex pullets to pick from and about5,680 ss egggs in my incubator (but also, apparently eggs are strictly straight run). I'm a bit outside your driving range, i think.

Depends depends! What is the nearest big city to you? How old are you Spec Sussex pullets?

Anybody going to the Chickenstock in San Marcos that have Araucanas for sale? Since that arent very many people who have them, I guess Im looking for some at any age. I would prefer pullets, but I know thats not always possible. Im also looking for a rumpless rooster as well. I already have one rooster, but he has tufts and a tail.

I am closest to Fort Hood/Killeen....Austin is about an hour from me... so is Waco.....and I will be at the Chickenstock in san marcos!

The pullets are now 1 week, three days old. They are from Ideal. I also have two dozen eggs in the incubator, too...but I just cant say if they are pullets or not.

Will you be at chickenstock?

I just had three speckle Sussex/white Ameraucanas hatch. They're all three the same colors with the chipmunk stripes. Is that the way the speckles hatch?

Ms. Barnwife, thank you so much for your offer, but my girls are about 2 months old (sorry, in the previous post I put the wrong number) and I would have to keep a very young spec sussex inside and separate until she was grown before I could introduce her to my girls.

My girls just went into their coop and I'm not sure even MY hubby would be ready to have another chicken in the house for weeks and weeks after we just finished our coop and put the 'little' darlings outside. They started in an incubator on the dining room table and graduated to a 4x8 pen on a tarp on the dining room floor. I was really relieved once the coop was done (YESTERDAY! - YEEHAW) and I was able to introduce them to the great outdoors.

I spent this afternoon hauling pine chips and cleaning and dusting the dining room area so we could actually eat at the dining room table for the first time in weeks!

I wouldn't feel right leaving a small chick in a pen in the hen house by herself and would have to keep her inside. That is why I was looking for an older pullet that I could quaratine and then put outside in a pen after a couple of weeks so the girls could get acquainted.

Once again, thank you so much but I'm going to have to pass this time.

What exactly is the Chicken Stock please?

Chickenstock is a gathering of poultry enthusiests to meet each other, eat, and have some fun. Some people bring birds/eggs to swap/sell. It was started several years ago at BYC.

It is a family event and everyone is welcome. Learn more at the Chickenstock link below.

Most excellent! Thank you Carla. I'm going to run it by hubby and see if he would like to go. If not, maybe I can make it with a friend!
I will let you know if I can make it and I can seriously bake. I'm all excited!
