Not that I want to change your mind

but Impy should/might get gentler as he matures. One of my Orp roos was very hard on the girls his first year/year and half, as he has matured he much more gentle and easy on the girls.

Something tells me things would have been better if y'all had really been partying in my house the whole time we were gone; at least then I know my animals would have been properly cared for.

Apparently we came home a day earlier than they expected us, the filth really was going to be cleaned up, honest.

The disaster area that is now my house I can live with - even the destroyed counter top (apparently used as a cutting board) and the ruined electric griddle, the hardships and threats to my animals health I am not having an easy time with right now.

I just keep telling myself...at least all the animals are still alive; if in much worse shape. I guess that's something to be thankful for. And they wonder why I never take a vacation.

OOOHHH! I'm sorry Gritty, House shouldn't be messed up. And what kind of applesauce uses the counter for a cutting board.

Next time give me some notice and I'll come down and care for your animals.

Oh geez Gritty, I'm so sorry your house and animals weren't cared for properly.

What kind of person cuts on the counter? (umm, common sense?)

sorry I know when my kids where younger they cut on the counter but an adult

The animals seem like they'll be okay.

We thought Kane's foot was healed up before we left; apparently it wasn't. He'll have to see the vet. Wish I had known about this sooner. A vet visit could have been arranged.

I think I told SD at least a dozen times that it was very important that the younger chicks have a chick sized waterer to drink from; since the adult waterers are up on blocks and too high for them to reach for another week or two. So why then did I find the chick waterer buried in the shavings and so caked with dried shavings that I had to use a brillo pad to clean it?

The betta fish and the two cory cats that I've had forever may survive. I was told that the GS decided they needed the entire can of fish food for a meal. SD changed their water, but since there was only a little distilled water left, she went ahead and used tap (chlorinated) water to make up the difference.

There was some kind of black mold growing in the bottom of the younger birds waterers yesterday. Must have grown there because the waterers were bone dry.

The thing I'm most upset is the shape my brahmas are in. Best I can figure, the light in the coop (that we rigged for nighttime emergencies) was turned on and left on. The birds were exposed to constant light for however long it took before the bulb burned out. Then darkness, since the flaps covered the windows weren't properly managed. The brahmas are now in a full molt; about 3 - 4 months ahead of schedule.

I could go on and on, but I'm too tired to think.

Oh and my set of porcelain cats, made in occupied Japan, that were a gift from my mom? There was no way to put all the pieces back together, so they got thrown out. It was blamed on Kane, but I have my doubts. If Kane is able to squeeze his body into an opening that the cats have trouble getting through to the table the cats were sitting on, I haven't seen him do it.

I haven't yet told DH that I discoved one of his guitar cases damaged this morning. The guitar inside is one of four antique guitars DH inherited from his late brother. Perhaps I'll let him discover it for himself.
