all who are hatching quail

Quote: I recall reading an online article that the A&M's were initially jumbos that were crossed many generations with the English white, produced by Dr Fred Thornberry from the department of poultry science at Texas A&M University.

Texas A&M Quail was developed by Dr. Fred Thornberry, now professor emeritus with the department of poultry science at Texas A&M University. The breed was developed through genetic selection to improve the poultry industry by enhancing the meat characteristics, including larger birds. The meat has a lighter color and more appealing texture than most other quail found in the meat section of the local grocery in North America.

I'm über excited! :D
I just hatched my first 3 Cortunix eggs! The chicks are all healthy and cheeping like mad. Haha
I put in 8 eggs and got 4 to hatch, but one died 1/2 out of the egg. :'(
Anyways, I just had to tell someone that would care to know. Haha

That's totally EGGciting! Enjoy those babies. Fuzzy butts are addicting-I just got my spring chicks (chickens) and my Cots go into lockdown next tuesday! YAY for babies!!

Got my A&M eggs yesterday and half of them were smashed. The person i ordered them from just wrapped them in paper towel in a little box. No special markings to indicate the contents were fragile. Kinda upset about it. They want me to pay shipping to send replacement eggs. Not really sure that is fair considering it is their fault for not packaging them properly. They are also trying to get a refund from the postal service , all the more reason I should not have to pay anything extra.

I just got home and 3 out of 12 of my tuxedo eggs hatched! The others pipped so I'll wait until the morning to take these 3 out. One looks to be white with a black dot on its back, one is a red tux and the other is black tux... perfect tuxedo markings, I'm excited!!! My Valentine's babies!

Well its not going so good now...I woke up and took the three out, they're nice and fluffy and eating already. The others have pipped so I quickly misted some warm water around the eggs. I took out an egg that pipped on the wrong end yesterday morning and hadn't made progress. I just did an assisted hatch for it, it was ready to come out. Membrane was not bloody at all. But after helping it out I can see clearly that its feet are really curved in. The egg this was in was also very small, almost button sized compared to the others. I put him back in the incubator but its not looking good, he didn't even peep when I was helping.....another chick looks like it started to zip and died. I'll see what happened after the rest hatch. : ( so much for a good hatch so far!
