all who are hatching quail

I raise coturnix and is hard decided who gets butchered. they taste great though, especially smoked. I should be getting 24++ A&M eggs today or tomorrow to hatch and I have 100 eggs from my birds that someone else is hatching out for me. I am super excited to see what they look like since I have multiple color patterns in the same pen.

Titika, could I ask how you smoke yours? I have a hood BBQ and was wondering if I could smoke quail in that, and whether to use hot smoke?

I had a friend do it for me. I think he just used a regular smoker. I'm sure there are recipes online. I'm going to cook a couple tonight I think, if I can find a good recipe. I've never cooked them before.

when I cooked them with bacon and sausage meat they took 45 mins in the oven. I think it's because I didn't let them get to room temp before putting them in. Thought they would only take 30mins. How wrong I was

LindsayB-sorry to hear that. It sucks to lose them as chicks. I lost one yesterday that we had to do an assisted hatch on. It had been a pip for over 2 days.

Here are my new little babies. I have 4 tux and one white. The weak one that pipped on the wrong end passed. : ( a couple more are still in the bator hatching.

At what age do a&m's get their feathers? I've got one that's not even a week old and it looks like its feathers are starting to grow.
