all who are hatching quail

16 and counting :) the chicks keep rolling the other eggs around. I'm worried it'll effect their hatching but i don't want to open the incubator the remove the chicks lose heat and humidity...any advice?

Don't worry. Chicks will survive the first 36h easily without any food. Opening the incubator may cause the membrane to dry on the chick.

I know they dont need food or water for the first 24 hours or so I am just worried the chicks rolling around all the other eggs so much will cause them to not hatch. Two that pipped several hours ago have not moved at all for a long time. I don't think they made it.

Does anyone know how to tell what color variety chicks will be when they get bigger? How do you tell when they are chicks?

I had one hatch yesterday that took 24 hours from pip to hatch...don't give up yet, just give them time. I know your not supposed to take the chicks out until the hatch is over...but I take the first ones out if it's been 12 hours. I do it really fast so the humidity stays and then use my dropper to add hot water to the sponges once it's closed again. You can leave them in there, they won't hurt the ones hatching. I just like to get them out and started on food and water.

You have a styrofoam incubator right?

my incubator has no oto turn but has fan and is a little giant. i have hatched half a dozen of chicken hatch's
if you have hatched chickens, then you can hatch Quails with no problem. The temperature is the same the humidity is the same just turn them for 14 days. After the 14th day stop turning them, three days later you have Quails.

First two chicks have hatched, it's only day 16. Guess they were a bit impatient! :)

I take my chicks out after 6-8 hours. Just do it quickly and make sure the humidity goes back up. No problems doing that, so far.

I have a question regarding feeding button quail.

I live in a very small town where no one has ever heard of buttons, therefore, I have problems finding food for them.

Can someone please let me know brands and type of food so I can possibly order online.

Thank you
