all who are hatching quail

No brown and golden yield italian golden. Golden is dominant brown is incomplete dominant.

There arent cinnamon birds in the US that im aware of but theyre common in the uk and australia.
The chicks I have hatching are most likely from gold x brown, it's easy to figure it out when it's 2 hens only haha! But so far only one little guy has the unique coloration. From all pictures I've seen it looks cinnamon, but honestly until it feathers out I'm just guessing. I just acclimatized the chicks to the adults and released him into the aviary..now I'm thinking maybe I should go get him out if cinnamon isn't in the usa.

The other chicks hatching, if they are not golds, are a different color than the parents were. So maybe they will be Italian? But the unique chick is just that. He doesn't look like any of the others hatched so far.

As to what was to be understood as common knowledge at one time here. Quail can't make it three days on the yoke like chicken do. It last several hours. They need to eat soon after hatch. You can train them by picking at the container with your finger. They will mnemic you.

I dont remove chicks from the bator until 24 hours after they hatch. Usually when they wont eat and need to be 'taught' its because theyre still running on absorbed yolk and not hungry yet. I havent bothered showing chicks how to eat for a couple years now with no change in results. Same thing when i stopped grinding the starter. They didnt need it i just thought they did.

Thanks DC. When I went to bed last night, there were 9 or 10 chicks in the bator. I checked them at 4:00 AM and there were 21. They were all still pretty wet, and humidity in the bator was in the mid 80s. They were piling on top of each other and I was concerned that some might not survive it. So, I took half of them and moved them to the brooder. At 8:00 AM no more had hatched, and the rest were moved over. Even then, most of them were not dried off completely. They did dry pretty quickly in the brooder and all seemed fine after that.
Thanks again.

A Co-Op down the road from my house asked me to hatch 40-50 Quail for them!!!!!! the most I've hatched is 12!!! Freaking out!!!! how many days can 30-50 chicks stay in one storage tub???

I am 6 days into hatching 60 Cots eggs. They are a mix of white, regular brown and jumbo brown. Once they are done I am going to put 120 brown that are suppose to be 80% jumbo brown. I am going to breed the jumbos from the different hatches and continue from there.

Good luck with your hatch CrowWing Native. I'm at day 19 with 25 already hatched out of 62. I haven't had one hatch in almost 24 hrs, and there is no movement in the remaining eggs that I have noticed. So, I may be done. That's only 40%. I had humidity issues in the first week, so I'm not surprised. This was also my first attempt at hatching quail (or anything else, for that matter). One chick died shortly after hatching, which leaves me with 24. I hope you have better luck!

Congrats EJA1! I would be happy with 24. I do not have a hygrometer, and have read too much about dry hatching that I am going to leave it dry until lockdown and steam it up. I have wet a paper towel everyday and put it in there, but am not sure if that has done anything. My first time hatching as well. What is your setup for mature birds?

When hatching time comes just fill a cup up with hot water and fill the water wells with it or you could use a sponge soaked in hot water or do both
