Anyone know what colors these will end up being? I have one that is feathering out all brown.



And then the lighter tuxedo is throwing me off. All of my tuxs are like the dark one and then I have the lighter one. The camera makes it look darker, but its color is almost a light chocolate.

most likely the lighter one has rosetta in its genes they end up almost red in color i get few from my Tuxedos they are cool

the feathered out one looks like he might be Tibetian color phase.

That's totally EGGciting! Enjoy those babies. Fuzzy butts are addicting-I just got my spring chicks (chickens) and my Cots go into lockdown next tuesday! YAY for babies!!

I just had the three eggs hatch that I swore were dead! Lol
I've got 6 fuzzy-butts now!
They're all so cute.
I know I have 2 Tuxedo chicks, but the others are a question as to what they'll turn into.
All the babies are together and the 3 smaller chicks follow their 3 slightly older cousins around the brooder.
I think the older ones are "showing them around the crib" Pretty funny. Haha

Can anyone help me? My chick seems stuck and bloody. should I Just risk it and try to free her/him or just wait. Its head is out and its trying and trying to push but the membrane is to tough. Everytime I shine light on it it starts pushing. I removed the shell around it earlier because I assumed it would make it easier but I guess I was very wrong

Assisted hatching is very tricky and most people advise against it entirely. When a chick pips it has access to air and should be left alone to figure its own way out in almost all cases. Breathing air helps the chick to absorb the blood vessels that are in the membrane of the egg and so when you remove the shell too early your chick can bleed to death. I know it is so tempting to help the chick out but it is best for the chick not to help. Too much can go wrong and most people argue that a chick that requires assistance is likely not strong or healthy enough to live very long outside of the shell anyway. I know this isn't the most helpful or encouraging advice but I would recommend you simply wait and see if your chick can make it out on its own from here. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your little one!

every time I have helped it went wrong. I am a true believer of mother nature will do right.

I had a similar problem, and what i did was so carefully picked at the dry membrane until you feel it 'stuck' then I would stop and then carefully I crushed the egg along the natural fault line, it didn't take much pressure, then I left the chick a while then later went back and freed a bit more membrane and was just so careful not to rip any wet membrane as that could have blood vessells.

Mite try rapping it with damp rag,and let head stay out.

I would rub a wet q tip over the membrane to help soften in. Do not get water on its beak or nose though. Put it back in the incubator and wait until the blood and veins are gone or look like hair. You may have to help it hatch the rest of the way in a few hours. I've helped a few and they ended up fine.
