all who are hatching quail

I have 450 coturnix eggs in my incubators right now. I put 50 eggs every other day. Gotta keep that business going!

400
hatched 14 on 4/25/14

I have the Jumbo Brown Coturnix that I bought as eggs back last August from JMF. For the last 6 weeks I've been setting 21 eggs a week. I get anywhere from 12 to 14 to hatch each week. The first 3 weeks I've sent the chicks to my daughter, who is starting her own quail. From here on out, what I raise will be used as replacement hens/roos for my eggs or for meat.

Tammy N what type of incubator are you using ? I think its always best maybe to be connected to one of those surge protectors.
I have a Leahy its old but it wasnt the Incubators fault . Mark put some things on top of it and grabbed the flash light turning the knobbs when he did that I thought i should check on the eggs the next am the temp was 138 + so high it was like a sauna in there and i removed everthing Immediatly I am getting good cause when an egg is rotten i smell it i let Mark check the only rotten one there , LMAO payback for killing 66 chicks and 5 duds out of 75 of my own try at doing what JMF had perfected since they are JMF Quail i did get to learn to cull .

yes i own a incubator but dont know how long they sit adn humidity and temp they are japanese quail

first you have to look at your equipment. what you already have, and what youre gonna need before setting eggs and after hatch. what kind of incubator is it and its operating condition. check if you have the fan, auto egg turner(universal or quail rails-either is fine), and hygrometer. put these pieces together, then you heat it to 99.5f and add water to 45%-55% humidity. let it cycle a day or two. make sure your eggs are fertile, stored at room temperature and less than 2 weeks old. only open to add water for humidity, other than that leave them alone til day 15 when you lockdown. stop the turner and remove it, put eggs on the bottom mesh. raise humidity to 65%-70%. DO NOT OPEN BATOR AT ALL THEN TIL HATCH IS DONE, by day 17-18 in most cases. alot of people over-fiddle with the bator, nor is there no need to keep candling every 4 days. that reduces hatch rates.there is very good advice on these forums, you will do just fine by listening. im on my third home-laid batch of eggs. keep us updated and good luck!
