all who are hatching quail

I don't know what kind of equipment you have as to whether you should take out the turner or turn it off, but you would want to work as quickly as you can do it smoothly and without panic, not like your clothes are on fire...but you want to maintain as much heat as possible. HTH

I've never seen a little giant, but if you can turn off the turner that would probably be sufficient, I hear a lot of people are doing "upright hatches" with good results. your mileage may vary.

If you turn the egg Turner off and leave the eggs in it they should be fine. Lots of people do it that way from what I've read

So day 21 for Japanese quail and have one that hatched yesterday and died almost instantly and have one that hatched two hours ago that has been on its feet a few times but seems to mainly be on its back trying to rightside itself?? Is that normal? three more pips as well so my thermometer was definitely off.

I don't know about the bob white, but the coturnix need to be between 99.5 and 100.5 degrees. The humidity should start be between 45 and 55 the first two weeks, and 55 to 65 during lock down. I have a Genesis Hovabator and I do really well with it. I actually have two. I keep an egg turning in one, and keep another for my lock down incubator. I put 21 eggs in every week, and hatch apr. 12 to 14 eggs weekly. I have the Jumbo Brown from JMF, and their eggs are too large for the quail egg turner, so I use the chicken egg turner.

ok i had 1 egg out of 9 hatch this morning, my question is this: can this little one eat 20% game bird crumbles? i went to my farm store today and they done have any game bird starter.

Thx John

Well thats better than nothing, but get something better ASAP. Grind your crumbles in a coffee grinder or blender. you want a "cornmeal" consistency.
