Allie & Bino, the albino orpington chicks

i put my eggs under 3 broodies, one is a giant uk chocolate orp named Godzilla, she is a first time broodie that is why i split them between 3 hens.

It looks like about 1/12 that hatch on average are albino. I wish you luck!

Chippy, yours look like they are growing beautifully! So cool you got a pair it from those random eggs! I am so glad you persevered through my doubts. I was so confused when you got white chicks out of my flock of yellow, black and blue.

Well, thank goodness I inherited my grandpa's pigheadedness! I wasn't very discouraged when you doubted me :D

My eggs went into lockdown today, due the 27th. My bator has been running a bit warm & everything has been hatching 1-2 days early...so I may have some little albino babies by tomorrow night.

Yay! Hopefully! Make sure you have time/electrolytes to teach them and keep an eye on them... If I didn't baby mine they wouldn't have made it. I'm so glad they did , I was nervous the first week or so.

I've had 5 hatch this year. Currently two survive. It appears the first few days are the most critical. Vitamins seem to help get them started. Those I have lost due within two days. The two I have are five weeks apart, so they are not together. They seem to get along well with hatch mates so far.

The other chicks that hatch from these eggs are surviving extremely well.

I have pictures!!! Allie and Bino moved into their tractor last night! Neither one of them like it, but Bino is handling the change in surroundings better than Allie. Allie is visibly stressed, not really coming out of the coop part much. When she does, she stands a little hunched and in one spot. Bino is more willing to come out but goes in every few minutes.

The tractor needs wheels and a little paint still, but otherwise it's finished. Oh, and a nest box. The pieces of wood going across the top of the run are for shade.
