Hi everyone, its great being able to communicate with people and talk all chicken, this is all new to me, even keeping chickens in my back garden, i came home from work one day to discover a rather large hen roaming around and fell for her then and there, she is known as chook chook or big mama. Two hens later , candyfloss and bernie rose, two chicken coops later and a 10ftx10ft enclosure being built as we speak, my life has changed completely and loving every moment.

I wonder if someone drives around throwing chickens over the fence. So many people on here say they found a strange hen, or rooster, or guinea, turkey whatever in their yard.

All I ever notice is predators - a raccoon takes a shortcut(?) thru my yard - when the fox isn't out. Also possums and every cat in the neighbor comes to dump in my yard.

I'm glad you like her and she is a nice bird. Maybe people just can't afford to keep them anymore, or their township said they had to get rid of them. Who knows? But, she has a good home now.

Yes she certainly has a good home now, the only downside is she wont let me near her, i think shes had a hard time somewhere before us as shes so cautious and wary of passing us close by but the other two i can catch and have a little cuddle but they do struggle a bit as they think im putting them to bed , theyre like naughty teenages wanting to stay out later and later every night.

Hi we are not sure what breed big mama is we think she,s a cross between a rhode island red & not sure what, floss is a commercial brown & bernie is a black rock , all with great personalities .
