My almost 3 year old hen just layed her second shelless egg. Shes an indoor pet so i dont care about her eggs. But im worried this could cause peoblems and one might burst inside of her and id never know and shell slowly and painfully die. She layed her first shelless egg a couple days ago and it freaked me out. i had conpletly forgot about the oyster shells i had and hadnt been putting any out so i thought that was it and put some out. she layed a normal egg but just today she layed another shelless egg with blood spots. she has oyster shell and im picking up scratch and feed 16% layer feed tomorrow and a bunch of seeds for her to eat. Ill also be takimg her to the vet to make sure its not worm or a vitamin deficency or tumors. if these continue no matter what i try is spaying an option amd if so does anyone know any trustworthy vets. or that chip that goes in their neck. i love her very much and will do anything to prolong our time together.

She’s not in a natural environment. Chickens belong outside, so I’m sure that’s a lot of the issue. No access to bugs / natural foraging / sunshine is going to take a toll on their bodies.

You can pop a calcium citrate pill into her beak and she'll swallow it. That can be helpful right away. It's the same kind of calcium citrate that you buy at the grocery store.

Has she lived inside for 3 years?
She never goes outside?

What are you feeding her?
She needs a balanced chicken feed, fresh plain water, and nothing else.
No scratch, no "bunch of seeds".
