Almost 5 months and still no eggs

My RIR were first to lay at about 17 weeks, then the Buff Orps followed. Now I'm waiting for my puffy cheeked Ameracaunas / EE's to start laying thier pretty eggs. The RIR are very good layers right from the start. I get one from them everyday. Our Buffs are about 50~50, and when one particular Buff Orp misses a day she'll lay a BIG double yolker the next!

Now, THAT was Hilarious!!! I loved it, i think i may have to give it a try... my 4 year old will have to do the story telling since they love her so much that they wont hold a grudge.

Still waiting and dreaming of the juiciest omelets to come.

We have 2 eggs today... i didnt even hear them making any noises at all... just surprised me when i went in to check on everyone at supper time!!!
I am a hooting and hollering like my pants are on fire!!!
They will be 23 weeks old in 2 days so you all were right on the money.
Thanks for the encouraging words... us first timers are so pitiful and yet you all can relate and not condemn us for it eh?
guess the cook book can go back on the shelf now, heeheh.
the funny thing is one of my RIR hens was acting funny last night and this morning... panting and wings arched open as if she was hot... (actually i remember the look-- its the same way i was when i was going into labor.)
i will have to see if the others do the same thing.
this is way cool.

I went in the cage where my RIR hens are and there was still nothing in the nest box.
They are 21 weeks and 3 days old.
I was saying that if they don't lay they will get butchered.
When I was leaving I noticed that there was a egg in the corner!!!!!!

I am so happy!

Well,
the girls will be 24 weeks old in a couple days and still only one hen is laying (so far she has laid 6 eggs in 7 days). but the funny thing is she is so quiet about it, no noises from her at all, just the roosters carry on like they are her cheer leaders, its too funny. hope the other gals get in the mood.
