Almost done with my first coop build. The coop is 8x8. 5.5’ walls.

The run is a total of 24’ long by 8’ wide. 6’ tall. They will get to go under the coop too. I’ll probably install some sort of black netting on top of the chicken run to help with shade. Or end up building a metal roof over the run. Not sure yet.

I’m using 1/2” hardware wire. 19 gauge. It’ll be doubled up in spots since I’ll have quite a bit of wire leftover. I bought a 150’ roll.

I’ll be extending it about 12” on the ground and putting stakes in. I’ll line the whole premier with concrete blocks to help keep predators from digging. Painting the blocks black and planting flowers on the holes of the concrete blocks. It should turn out good.

I still need to trim the coop out and paint it. Black paper and shingles go on this weekend. It has a window on the other side as well. It’ll have an automatic door for the chickens. I bought 4 chicks at the end of March. They’ve been in the coop for about 3 weeks now.

I can’t wait to get them outside!

From looking at it is there anything I’m missing? I’ll install the soffit this weekend as well. To get that top section sealed up. I’m not too happy with the door. The gaps around it are a little bit. Epically for this winter. I’ll probably either re do the door or install a rubber strip all around the inside of the door.

The flooring is 3/4” thick sheeting with waterproof luxury vinyl flooring on top of it.

Great job, it looks nice.
Don't forget to cut plenty of permanent ventilation in top, under the eaves and in the roof peak.
You need 1 square foot per bird and windows Don't vent fumes and moisture well enough. :]
