Aloha from Manoa's Roost

It's the proposed breed standard to have yellow legs.

Just found your thread. He looks to be settling in nicely.

Hi, there! Yes, he is. I'm still waiting on these chick's to grow out that I got from Sommer. They will be 3 week's old on Monday, and are still in the house in the brooder. I'm supposed to keep the pullet's to breed with him later. I also have 1 buff NN pullet with the yellow leg's that will be his one day to help bring in the NN version of the Aloha's. The buff NN's with the yellow leg's are hard to find right now.

Awesome thread post ! :love Manoa is a very beautiful Rooster. Looks like you have yourself a very fun project in the works, what interested you in these breeds? Most definitely, more pics. :)

Looks to me the only thing missing is a few Ducks running around ! :gig:lau

You said it yourself. He's big and has beautiful coloring of the feather's. Yes, I need to take more pictures again. The 10 chick's are growing so fast now. Too bad that I will only be picking out one of those cockerel's to keep, so the rest of the cockerel's will have to go.

This is the first time since I joined that I am starting a thread in this section. I received my Aloha boy today and have decided to name him Manoa after one of the Hawaiian names. I plan to help develop the Naked Neck version of the Aloha's. The Aloha breed was created and developed right here in Arizona, and is dual-purpose. Manoa is a big boy!

He's gorgeous! How big is he?

Manoa is still adjusting to the flock over here, but I think that he has already figured out that I am the bringer of the food and water, and that I'm not there to hurt them. He was enjoying a nice dirt bath this morning, and he makes a big place to do it in because he's so big. I found out that he hatched in April of this year, so he is 7 month's old now.
While I'm not ready yet, I'll be on the look out for an Aloha chicken for my granddaughter to have for 4 H.

Well, I'm still getting set up for chickens in Payson. I'm getting my stuff to build my coop in this next week or so and I'm setting up an enclosed run as we have lots of predators - owls, hawks, possums, racoons, bob cats, coyotes, foxes... and they all like chicken dinner. I ordered American Bresse chicks, and I have a couple of Silky chicks and an Easter Egger. I can have up to 10 chickens, and am not supposed to have any roosters, although I hope to get away with keeping one.
