Alphabet themed quail hatch-along. Day 1

Pics
The first picture is a baby from our own covey. Thinking it will be a pearl. View attachment 4224197

The second (smaller) bird is a Tuxedo.

The third bird is Lizzie, who may be a Sparkly.

It's a shame more of them didn't hatch because the 3 that did hatch are all beautiful birds.
:love beautiful little babies! 🤩
Glad they're doing well!

Good luck to your son with his mini-hatch! :fl We'll be rooting for them, let us know how they're doing please.

:loveMy goodness are those some cute babies!:love

That is upsetting. It's never easy to remove a lifeless chick from the incubator or brooder. Sadly it's part of life. It sounds like you had a great conversation with your son about how precious life truly is.
I'll be rooting for his mini hatch!:celebrate
Keep us updated please!

Interestingly Lizzie was born first, the Tux was second and the GH bird was third, yet it is the largest bird.

I took the babies out of the brooder for a run-around and some fresh air. They are snuggled back up in the brooder now after their adventure.

I may be a tad optimistic here because not all the feathers have come through yet, but I think the hatched greenhouse bird is female. Waaaaaaaay too many chest spots for her to lose them and no ginger/rust anywhere. What do you think?

This bird is incredibly soft and warm. I want to carry it about in my pocket!! 😍

I also accidentally came across an eBay account belonging to the person I bought some of the eggs from and they have a lot of negative feedback regarding non-fertility/ poor hatch rates. The sellers responses were all in CAPS, BLAMING CUSTOMERS. So, that says it all to me.

Ouch, yes it does! At least now you know that last hatch failure was because of poor egg quality, not anything y'all did. Not sure if that's any consolation to your boy after the fact but hopefully he'll have more confidence in this hatching!

Not everyone is trustworthy or know what they are doing. :hugs Do your best to find a reliable breeder and stick with them.
