Alright what IS Roscoe!?

Oh crap! More ideas!!! Obviously his color combination is reasonably common!

He's not Cubalaya...the tails wrong,,,but otherwise VERY similar!

Good grief I'd never even heard of a Kreinkoppe...again very, very close. The legs look lighter in the picture, but that could be the pic. I'll look into this one some more.

He's a big boy, probably 20" tall, and heavy! He makes the girls feel like feather weights, and they aren't little!
I don't feel so stupid now!!! There are lots of choices!

I know it says I'm "Just Hatched" and technically I am to RAISING chickens. But I've been around them all my life, I had no idea how many breeds there actually were! They were just "chickens"! Of course I also didn't know they had personality, and could talk, and could be trained...who'da guessed!

If it's any help Roscoe came from Murray-McMurray...

Roscoe P. Coltrain...LOL! I've been watching the reruns...I still think that's one tough Charger! It's just amazing how it heals itself LOL!

I don't know why I called him that. It started when he was a little brown fuzzball....Oooooooh...fuzzball..fuzz...Police...Roscoe...I gotta get to work!

You'll need to wait a few more months to get an idea of his color at maturity. Here's a picture of my Cubalaya at 17 weeks. He looks like a totally different roo now! I had no idea when he was young that he would grow up to be such a beautiful black breasted red bird because he looked almost mottled!

Now at 8 months he FINALLY looks like the pictured cubalaya in the link previously posted and is soooooo handsome! It took several months for his tail to fill in as they are a slow maturing breed. Your bird has some maturing to do, and honestly he doesn't look like an EE at ALL to me.

ETA I looked through the McMurray breeds and they really don't have much that looks like your roo. Certainly not Cubalaya's or Kreinkoppes! Email them a picture and ask, I'm curious! LOL

You just might have something! Here he is at about ten weeks. I didn't think he'd change much more...he was just a cute little brown fuzzy, now look at him!

Maybe his tail does point down! Or like you said maybe he has some more growing to do!

I'm gonna contact McMurray and see if they know.

He's a handsome boy as well! And very similar.

Here's a pic of my EE cockerel. He was hatched here by a broody on July 3rd. Not that all EE's can't look very different, but I think ours look similar. Strangely, mine doesn't have a beard like his "daddy" so I think he may be from my black Australorp hen. Although, otherwise, he looks identical to his dad (well, and his dad had a blue tail...another trait making me think he's from my BA.)

I tell him that all the time! I always talk to 'em as I walk down in the morning. (If I don't sometimes they get spooked and go nuts on me!) I always say,"How's my Girls...and my handsome Boy." I think this has gone to his head!

Had someone post an EE on another post. Even though the juries not fully out, Im gonna have to say he's an Easter Egger. McMurray wouldn't give away freebee valuable chicks. And the other pic is absolutely identical. I'll send a pic to McMurray to verify.

McMurray doesn't offer Cubalayas, so that eliminates that idea...sure does look close though!
