My 21 chicks are doing well. Received them last Friday and they are eating and drinking and pooping and chirping. Some are already getting their feathers... They look really good and I would order from them again.
Ideal is actually http://www.idealpoultry.com. They have quite a selection available in season and they sell live birds with a minimum shipment of $25.00 instead of 25 birds. They also sell hatching eggs for any breed they have in stock. Depending on weather conditions you may get extra live birds -- typically cockerels -- included in a smallish order for the sake of both warmth for the chicks and taking up space in the box. People call them "packing peanuts", which may explain another phrase you have had questions about.
I bought several orders last year and this year. I will not be giving them my business any more.
I bought assorted bantams and got several mixed breed birds. They list on the site (for each breed/variety), "Our bantams are purebred and represent the breed & variety; however, we do not guarantee or represent that they are of show quality."
I do not expect them to be show quality but, I do expect them to be purebred. One of these mutts is the "Gold Buttercup Pattern Old English Bantam ". I got several in my assorted OEGB order (they came out with a comb that is a cross between a buttercup's and a single comb). Silver Laced OEGB is another, definitly half silver sebright. There are many other discrepancies with my other assorted bantams.
I emailed them and they emailed me back that theye never represented them as being purebred!

I was disapointed as well. 2 of my 10 silkies never made the trick and two more down an hour later! 2 more died a week later. At least two were muttish, one has four toes on one foot and five on the other while the other (who passed) had four toes on both feet. Less than pleased, but was refunded for the 2 orignial babies who didn't make the trip and they (at Ideal) were very nice. The four we still have are doing great.
