Altering eggs

My pullets have only been laying for a couple weeks. I think their flavor is mild, as well. They are in all-flock and free range, with occasional vegetable scraps. They are not as yellow as some farm eggs I’ve purchased, but maybe those chickens were fed something yellow!

Mine don’t eat marigold flowers, but they liked the leaves. All frost-killed now anyway!

You know, my former batch of chickens laid the most delicious eggs, orangey-yellow yolks that were larger than usual store egg yolks. These current chickens are not laying particularly flavorful or golden eggs yet. I do remember that I had seen on the bag of Purina feed one of the ingredients was marigold, to enhance color. I am feeding a different kind of feed now. Hmmm. Now I need to think.
Marigold flowers will add color to both eggs and meat ... but they're kinda hard to come by in the winter. I plant them right up against my run in the summer, so the girls get all the "deadheads" I can pick. They also have free access to anything they can reach through the wire

My mother grew up on a farm and has said that when a certain bush was in bloom the chickens eggs yolk were a bright orange and delicious. Unfortunately she does not remember what type of Bush it was.
Poke Salut berries will make them delicious and turn the yolks a really dark orange, nearly red.

I don't know what I'm doing different, but my eggs are so superior to store bought that I cringe if I have to buy any. My yolks are very rich yellow and no marigolds at all. I feed all flock and they semi free range in an enclosed orchard. Wish I could be more helpful.
Mine just get commercial feed and occasional treats, and their eggs have big, bright orange yolks. Even the tiny Nankin eggs are full and colorful. The off color may be just be breed or line specific, or it may be a health issue. They're probably fine, but I'd check for worms, just in case It's easy to do; just take a sample to your vet for a fecal float and give them a poultry vitamin boost, just to be sure. The float test should be relatively inexpensive and a vitamin boost shouldn't hurt them at all.

Did you mean this advice for me? There's nothing wrong with my eggs.
