I'm still tempted to buy the mini plastic 3 egg incubator for $16.45 with free shipping because it comes with 4 quail eggs. I know, I know bare with me. I kind of want to do them as a test before Spring. Can anyone think of ways to alter this little incubator to actually work?

I was thinking what if I put the entire incubator in a Styrofoam cooler, and added a little fan? This way I could avoid buying the light kit, and chicken wire at least if I'm making a homemade one anyway. Any suggestions....please?? I need to hear it from you pros!!

This is the one I'm talking about:

May need a bigger heating element for better heating accuracy... It's like heating your 3000 sq ft house with the heating element for a toaster... It'll do it eventually, but not efficiently. Try looking around for an incubator with damaged casing, and using it's bits for the homemade bator. At least then it is much closer to being correct.

The best alteration would be to put the entire 3-egg incubator inside a real incubator.
