In Nova Scotia it might be different. Even here it has worked. Its just that 90% of the time problems arise when kept with chickens. And yes all pheasants.
Some chickens can harbor diseases that are fatal to pheasants, turkey & peafowl. The problem is that you don't know if your chickens have it, or just one chicken or none of them. Their isn't really a test for it... you just know that they have it when something starts getting sick. Many people do not want to risk their more expensive birds dieing because of a sick chicken, that is why many recommend against keeping them together.
