Am I a boy??????????? RESULTS ARE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,

I purchased 5 sexed Buff Orpington pullets from mypetchicken.com and ended up getting an extra one.

I am fearing that this extra one may be a rooster!

But, I am hoping that it is truly a girl and she is just developing earlier than the others?????

This is my first time with Chickens so I am not sure. It may be very obvious to you experienced eggsperts tho.

They are 15 1/2 weeks old now.

Please let me know what you think and if you have photos of your Buff Orpingtons around the same age I would appreciate taking a look.

Do you really need me to say it, LOL? Yep, it's a boy! Congratulations and pass the cigar, LOL. Pretty birds. I love Orpingtons of all colors.

The comb and waddles only became red and started growing within the past two weeks.

Are you sure it isn't an early developing girl????

When will he start crowing?? He'll need a new home before then...

I think its a pullet!! There arent any saddle feathers, which would be a pretty good indication that it was a rooster. Your birds are awful big though. Are you sure theyre only 5 weeks???

I agree--In comparison to the others he looks like a boy. And speckled hen knows her orpingtons so I would put a lot of weight on her opinion, but he looks just like my mature buff pullets. Could you keep "him" until he crows to know for sure?

I wouldn't want to guess based on feathers, I'm not that good, LOL, but I did want to say that they sure are a pretty bunch!

Buff Orps are the other breed I wanted so badly (probably my 2nd choice of all) but they were sold out the week I needed to have them shipped. Maybe next year ...

That's a rooster for sure!!! You can even tell my his short tail feathers. He sure is beautiful...umm...I mean handsome.

When you get extras from a hatchery 99.9% of the time it's a roo. Roos are cheaper so that's why they send roos.
