Cheapo?? No way! Smart? Definately! Reuse/recycle everything. Just a few months ago my DH's work was tearing down an old building...told everyone, " get what you want from it" So, we went and picked up 30 sheets of plywood, about 2 dozen 2x4's and enough insulation to completely do the new coop....which will be 12 x 30. Oh, we also was able to get 16 or 20 bundles of shingles! If that makes me a cheapo...well... I will be a cheapo with a few more dollars in my pocket! LOL

I've been using wood from pallets. Some wood I've bought, some is from pallets. I have done my best to scrounge, so to speak, all the materials that I can get to finish my coop. Shoot, your not cheap! Just smart!

Last summer, DH and I built 2 coops. One is 6x6 and 6ft tall in the front, 5ft tall in the back. The other is 10x16 5'6 in front..5'3 in the back, with 4 seperate breeder pens and runs. The roofing we had to buy, but was able to get it for $11 a sheet, and was normally $30 a sheet.( i am a swift talker)

ALL of the walls...are made from large wooden crates DH got from work.

This is the inside...once everyone was settled in.

We painted with leftover paint we had from the house. The fencing we had left over from other projects. Total cost, under $200.00
