Am I a He or a She?

I'm sure the middle one is also a cockeral even though his color hasn't started coming in yet. He has as large and red a comb as the B/W cockeral and very large thick legs. He should start getting more rooish signs at about week 12.

So I have one that is the same age as yours... I was just told Amelia was a She... What do your trained eyes see that is different about mine from Lkirts "roo"? Is it the banding of white?

Exactly. It's not that the bird is black and white, it's how the coloring is distributed. A patch on the wing bow that is either brick red or white is a masculine trait. Your bird, OTOH, shows patterning through the wing bow; a feminine trait.

ok. I tried to get some different snaps of Asia, the one some think is a roo.. i took pics of all three of the EE's just to compare. Einstein is so much larger. the other two's combs are alot alike, not as big as einsteins. Take a look and let me know what you think. the first ones are of Asian and Penny. the last ones are with Asian and Einstein.

I still say the black and white one is the only roo. I think Asia is a pullet. Be on the lookout for splashy coloration (ie: patches of red on the wings/shoulders) to appear that would indicate Asia is a roo. As of right now I still say pullet.

Im thinking shes a pullet. A guy at work said if she was a roo she'd be more dominant. Shes very shy and scares easily. She slips under all the other girls to get aeay from whatever frightened her. Her comb looks just like pennys and her legs and feet are the same size too. Einstein is huge ...everywhere lol. I hope ur right and she stays a she. Another question since einstein is (hopefully) my only roo, should he have his own hideaway as to not fertilize anyone? Until its wanted. And if i breed him with say a buff orp. What would the offspring be? And would that even be wise to do?

Asia looks like a pullet. She'll be pretty when mature with that blue-grey.

Keep the roo with the girls, eat the fertile eggs. No one on this earth can tell a fertile egg once it's cooked, and only a practiced eye can tell when it's raw. No taste difference, and if you collect eggs regularly--and I mean at like every other day, not like four times a day--you won't get any incubating.

If your ee roo covers a buff orp hen, you'll have a mixed breed chick. It's fine to mix breeds, folks do it all the time with many different animals.

Im so glad shes a she. Im just hoping einstein doesnt try to wear himself out. I have 44 females and one roo.

Oh yes he will ! LOL A very Happy Boy... Maybe thats why he looks like he has a smile on his face all the time! LOL
