Im sitting in the veterinary clinic with my 9 month old EE cockerel Hiccup, for a possible dislocated leg. Have i gone off the deep end for spending the money on trying to fix a bird (a very beautiful one though) that is essentially a back yard mix!?

Nope. Not crazy at all.
Consider yourself very fortunate to be able to take that guy to a vet.
In fact, high five that doctor for even seeing your chicken!
Best luck! Update us later please!

x2! I've never lived where a vet would look at one of my chickens.

Hope Hiccup will be ok!

I was very lucky in my giggle search this morning. I found one that sees poultry that was about 30 minutes away.

$70 just to examine him, anything other fee for the workup is known at this point.

We are patiently waiting in a room. Seems the is a bit of an emergency down the hall

I think it's worth it. I don't love spending lots of $$$ at the vet, but that's what's needed sometimes when you have animals. I brought in a chicken that had a limp, and sadly it was Mareks. Hopefully, your diagnosis is better

I think its a dislocation. When i pick him up it just dangles at the joint.

Chances are there will be X-rays.
May I make a suggestion?
If they are the digital type ( most vets use digital X-ray these days)
Ask that they email you a copy.
If you are willing to share them here I know that a lot of people would be interested in seeing them too.

Sure thing. That's a great idea
