Am I the only one that hates halloween?

My next door neighbors have having an outside "get drunk fest". All I can hear is the thumping of their loud music and their obnoxious drunk screams.

I LOVE Christmas!

I do too. And it is not just because of His gift. It is the carolers in costume, the music, the smell of the pine trees, the homemade decorations kids made when they were 3, the light of a childs face, the forgiveness that is given once a year in troubled families, the baking smells, bells, warm coats. I love it all!

I know you all are joking about the tp, but that's sort of what bothers me about halloween. that if i don't want to hang out getting up and down all night giving candy away all night, that something is wrong with me... that i should be punished. and i do get the jest, and yes i was young and loved all the candy... don't want to start anything just putting that out there.

Actually I miss when my kids were young and we went trick or treating to our friends houses. It was fun for them to wear some dumb costume and walk the streets with us in the evening, not full on dark. It can be safe enough if the parents choose to make it so. Where we live we have never had a kid come to the door, which I also kind of miss. What I don't get are grown ups dressing up for the day at work. That never interested me and comes off to me as silly and unprofessional. Leave it to the kids. Just my worthless two cents worth!

Thanksgiving and Christmas? Love every bit of it!

The first year that I took my little ones out, I found that there weren't so many strangers in our neighborhood after all. Turned out more than a few people I'd played against in rec league sports lived nearby, my vet lives right around the corner, several teachers from my kids school, etc.

Our old neighborhood from way back was a lot different. Right after college, my then GF- now wife and I shared a big old house with a bunch of friends. The neighborhood wasn't all that great, and there was an apartment complex with subsidized tenants about 5 blocks away. We got a lot of those kids trick-or-treating. Most could not afford costumes, and came by with a paper bag with eye holes and colored with crayons or maybe some whiskers drawn on with mom's eyeliner at most. We always got the big, full-size candy bars in bulk at Costco, and we'd give out a couple hundred $$s in candy. It really wasn't that expensive split between everyone in the house, and less than we'd have spent if we'd all gone out bar hopping. We'd even offer candybars to the older kids standing in the back, herding their little siblings through the neighborhood. Those kids were so happy to get a huge snickers bar. We used to wear costumes just to hand out the candy.

We never get any kids coming by where we live now, not worth the walk down our road for two houses I guess.

I havnt done the trick or treating since I was 12.
But I love the style of it.
And the fact that you get to be somebody or something else for 1 day is kind of neat.

I guess it depends on your perception of it. I guess growing up and it wasnt something celebrated when young or it didnt turn out good then it carries on for when you get older. Just how it is. And I see why.

I love to watch Vampire Movies, Werewolf movies. Or anything 1900 period style horror movies.. Few slasher movies like Halloween. And I don't know what to call it but I watched one of the Hannibal Lecter movies...ahhhhh it still creeps me out lol

So anybody see the previews for "The Wolfman" ?
Oh gosh I am so excited about this movie!!!!

Honey I don't wanna get off my butt at this hour either! Especially for that!!! When I did my mom's house for her - she is disabled - I parked a chair in front of the open door. Call me lazy, but it gets old after the really cute little kids. There is nothing wrong with you!

This reminds me.... My boss won free lunch from Chipotle for everyone at work. This is 150 people mind you. We told them they had to wear their uniform in to qualify. One dude says "Wow I have like 5 shirts, my whole family can go".
