Am I the only one who gets REALLY annoyed with breed names...???

Ahhh so we're like this... but taller...

I have some Buckeyes that do that. I have a theory. Some people think this behavior means they're friendly. (We have one exceptionally friendly hen, named Rita. She comes up and "talks" to us, and waits to be picked up and petted. She doesn't peck us.) I think it means they've figured out that we "large weird objects", often drop food around. I think they're pecking us trying to make food fall out.

So we're more or less giant, squishy, moving pinatas. Yeah, I can see that as a chicken thought. I'm pretty sure that's what my girls think. Especially since they've pecked bug bite scabs off my legs. They've picked "food" off me, therefore I must be made of food.

When people ask me what kind of chickens I have, I can freely make up names. Chicken names afford so much freedom in name manufacture...

"I have Blueberries, Crackers, Honkies, Homies, Giardias, Ulsters, Verrucas and that one there's my only Diverticulitis."

With me, everything is a test of your intelligence and/or sense of humor. While the failure rate can be quite high, I have to tell myself it's only for my amusement anyway so it's win/win!

Yes! Exactly! Giant squishy pinatas, (great mental image of that one,

) and treat dispensers, yep, that's about it. Our relationship with chickens!
