Am I the only one who thinks this is weird....... SIS & BIL

These are not pics of her specifically and they are family photos from my parents 50th anniversary. My parents OWN these photos and gave us each copies, which tells me they are mine to do with as I wish.
I was simply asking a question if others thought it strange, I did not expect to be hammered on for it. I openly admit that my sister and I are not close, never have been, never will be. I am not worried about it. I simply think it is odd.

Heaven forbid someone "not in the loop" post something on here! I see now why others are leaving this site! I have been a member here for several years and I think being jumped on for asking a question is awful!

Honestly I have never heard of something like this before. I share pictures that I take all the time. They are MINE.

And yes that is very strange request. It sounds like they have something to hide.

It doesn't matter who owns the pictures your sister and BIL own their likeness. If they are a focus in any of the pictures, legally speaking, you must have permission to display them. This is true even for photographers. That's why portrait photographers have clients sign model releases. Because even though the photographer took and owns the pictures, they do not own the likeness of the person in the pictures and legally must have permission to display that likeness. (BTW, unless your parents bought the copyright to the pictures the photographer owns the actual pictures buying copies of the pictures does not give them the rights to said pictures only the ownership of those copies.)

I don't think anyone is hammering you. It's just obvious from what you've posted that your sister and BIL are trying to do what's right for them, value their privacy right now and would probably not appreciate you spreading their business all over the internet.

See my above response. Yes, you own the photos themselves. No, you do not own the likeness of the people in those photos. If a photo focuses on a person's likeness you need permission to display that likeness. Pictures that show people in crowds, where no specific person is of focus are an exception and are generally considered fair game.

I have also never heard of anyone paranoid enough to ask their SIBLING to remove pictures. Of everyone in the family??

Can you link me the actual law that states this to be true with shared family photos??
A law that states you cant display you parents/siblings photos on your PRIVATE FB page for other friends/family to see...
Because her FB page is private...not just "anyone" can see her photos...
Thanks for any info on this!!
