Camp, I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I would start a compost pile now for black gold in 2019 growing season. Put all your manure, leaves,,kitchen scraps in it with some fertilizer. Water & turn it regularly. It won't be manure by next year.
I’m also bad at composting. I’ve tried and it never works right. :/
Pine straw makes soil more acidic. Tomatoes, tators, peppers love it. I think your soil needs to be tilled up-arerated, add fertilizer & watered more. Sandy soil just drains the water faster
Thank you deepbluesea, will check them outHi Chickenlady2014! Have you looked at Baker Seeds (rareseeds.com)? They have a couple of different kinds of purple pole beans, at least: Purple-podded Pole and Blauhilde Bean, which are also purple bole beans. It's a neat site, to boot.![]()
