Amelia is broody again!

Amelia has moved into the side coop as I moved my 7 week old chicks into the big coop today. Enola broke out of her little cardboard fence and when I came out she and baby were in the run doing great! So I was a little too nervous as they are doing great! Even Tilda who I thought would be the worst only looked at Mira. So I feel much better as the new little ones all settle into the main coop. Enola climbed in my lap today it was so sweet!

I went in with Amelia this morning now that there is enough space for me to sit with her and in a few minutes she had the babies hopping all over me! ❤️ I haven’t been able to spend much time with them and the babies weren’t very fond of me but Amelia had them on my lap in a minute! And before I left even if Amelia wasn’t on my lap they were perching on my arm and preening.

So Enola was a fantastic mommy for about 6 days and then I think that Mira somehow caught herself on the wire and ripped a bunch of skin off. Poor little baby! I had to take her inside so I could care for her and Enola was pecking at it. I’m so sad I had to separate them 😢 If you want to know more about Mira and her wound I have a different thread. I won’t post any pictures on this thread in case some of you don’t want to see it. I feel really bad that she got hurt and have fixed the spot where I think she shoved her head in some chicken wire I was using to block off under the coop.

I haven’t updated in awhile but I lost Mira. 😞 it’s been a little while since I lost her but I’ve been trying not to think about it! Enola has settled back in with the flock and Amelia and her chicks are doing great! Pip is definitely a cockerel and is all white with a little grey around his neck and a bright red comb! I’m not sure about Maizey but she/he has such pretty feathers! Here’s a picture of Maizey I’ll try to get one of Pip!

It’s really hard to tell on Wyandotte's. That’s kind of red to me for a pullet but I’ve heard people say they red up kinda early. Maybe someone else can tell better than me
