Amer/EE pullets from hatcheries: What color are your eggs?

Mine came from Ideal by way of the feed store. She is laying a small egg, blueish green. If it had just a bit more blue I call it robins egg blue. It really a pretty color. The other hasn't started laying yet.

My chickens came from a guy in Sante Fe texas....these are the eggs I get:

In my experience, Easter Egger egg colors are usually a little more vivid simply because hatcheries are breeding specifically for color. I love my wheatens, though, even if they have a paler egg. They're still pretty.

If you're buying for egg color (or size), best bet is Easter Egger. If you're buying for a breeding program, for show or something similar (as in you're looking for a particular color, like blue) then you may want Ameraucanas.

My Easter Egger came from Welp, by way of Privett in NM. She lays a slightly yellowish brown egg, the second egg from the left in the photo. The pink egg on the end is from my Buff Orpington, from a feed store.

The other folks that got EEs from Welp in the same order have reported getting green eggs. I just ended up with the one EE that didn't have a peacomb; she has a short little "straight" comb with a slight curve instead. I was disappointed at first, but she is quiet and lays daily. I can't complain, and she is one of my favorites.

My EE lays blue/green eggs. She came from Ideal via the local feed store.

I just got several more EE chicks from Ideal. They came via Privett in NM. Hope I get blue or green eggs from them not brown/tan.
