I didn't look into his mouth but will next time. I will make some solution on the mean time. He did swallow the bit of soaked bread I gave him. the tube for a goat is about the size of an insulin syrine but very soft and pliable. It is for newborn goats. I did boil the rag I used on his eyes in the microwave before using it and I put Gen-teal into his eyes but they seem swollen. So, if I did go into his trac with the tube he is a goner, right? I would think 50cc would drown him pretty quick
None of the flock is acting like this at all. Normal behavior. I am unable to get the picture thinghy to work for me.

I put a bit more gatorade in him and looked in his mouth while the saline was coming to a boil. When I opened his mouth It was just a big hole and I didn't see the trac but I always go along the left side of the throat with my tube. Anyway, I finally figured out, (I think) the trac part is flush against the bottom of his beak, right? He is a pretty big guy, BTW. Whew, You are awesome Ma'am! My syringe only holds 60cc's max so Next time do that one and a half times??

Warming the fluid to body temperature is a good idea, also.

Rooster update. Five rounds of 60 cc's of fluid he is more alert. I am going to go on to a soft mash of lay pellets and electrolytes at 60cc's every 2 hours until bedtime. I can not tell everyone what a God send Mrs. B has been for this poor old man. I tend to panic when there is a problem unless I have someone to direct or guide me through. Mrs. B was my guide and my cheer leader through the panic stage of this situation and I am grateful for her help.

Hard boil some eggs, then mash the yolk with water. Lots of nutrition that is very easily digested.

Your rooster is suffering with a respiratory infection.

I gave him about 1/4 of a cc of Oxytetracycline today but have no idea how much or how often. I just finished making a gruel of lay pellets (16%) with electrolytes to tube him with. Shall I give it or go to egg yolk and What about fluids? How much and how often, please?

Most of 2 egg yolks down the rooster. His craw feels pretty full with the pellets and the egg yolks. Also, he was able to open one of his eyes a bit so maybe he will make it through the night. I will check his craw just before I hit the hay. Is there anything else I should be doing?

Great job for you. I learned how to tube feed myself this summer. There is a great post with pictures, links to video etc.
I have no experience with respitory infection. Those eyes look nasty
Mine were down with coccidia. I tube fed for more than 4,weeks.

Be vigilant with hydration.

Please, someone, tell me, how much and how often ??? His craw is full right now with a mixture of lay pellets, boiled egg yolk and electrolytes. He received 1/3 cc IV Oxytetracycline orally one time today. I have no idea how much or how often to do ANY of this. I did start the pen on LS 50 in the water this afternoon as a precaution. Thank you for any suggestions you offer!
