Ameracauna???

Though beardless, she looks to be an EE. Beardless EEs aren't uncommon. I've even had a true Ameraucana hatch on occasion without a beard, a fault to be sure, but it happens.

And, no, before anyone says anything, I don't call any unidentified bird an EE.

I think that is what she is. Looks like she has a pea comb to me, does she?

I guess I would call it a pea comb though it is very small compared to the other hen her age.

did you order your ameracaunas from a hatchery? With the legs, comb, and coloring she's got to be an easter egger - which is what hatcheries call 'ameracaunas' but are really 'ameracauna crosses' whicih makes me mad that they dupe people like that and almost all of them do it! The coloring is not a recognized color of a true ameracauna I do not believe (can't remember off hand), most EE's have peacombs but can have any comb, and usually have an olive/green cast legs (though an EE can have any color leg really).

I say she's a beardless EE - as I have one that loves remarkably like yours - except a slightly darker red tone

beautiful birds I love them I call them the 'grab bag chickens' as you have no idea how they'll turn out when they mature and what color egg you'll get.

Enjoy her she's a doll.

Yes - green legs, pea comb (though small) and ordered from a hatchery as an 'ameracauna' - but she's our favority little bird of the bunch. A great personality, very friendly/curious; and yes, it will be interesting to see what color eggs she lays within about a month. And a beautiful bird with unique markings.

Thanks for the replys.

The chicken in question is definitely not a true Ameraucana...though it is a beautiful Easter Egger! This is becoming a pet peeve of mine that the hatcheries mislead people into thinking they are buying true Ameraucanas. I just wanted to comment on what speckledhen said...I, too, have a Wheaten pullet (from a renowned Ameraucana breeder) that does not have a beard OR muffs. I should take a picture of her. Her "sisters" are all normal/standard. It does happen.
