Bought day old chicks from the local feed store. This year, they had "Ameraucana" and I believe these were sold as straight run. Its still early, they are 3 weeks old now but wondering if these mohawk crests chickens are roosters! My question: Can a chicken's feathered crest be indicative of a rooster? All 3 of these chickens have the crest, so I doubt it. The feathers look rounded to me, so far. But hubby is like, Are you Sure? They are super cute. Don't mind the other camera hogs in the pics, my girls cant help it!

They are easter eggers, often mislabeled and/or misspelled. They are probably mixed with a cream legbar for them to have the crest. It has nothing to do with sex.

My Lady Jane Grey has a different kind of crest. And I’m
Wondering if she’s a he, and wondering if they are part legbar…
