Ameraucana genetics question

That’s a silver birchen all right. Though I am not 100% sure on sex.
Wow...thank you so much! Google pics are nil for anything in between day olds & adults. I've spent sooo many hours looking. Yeah, we've been pretty confident from day 1 he was/is a roo...but time may prove us wrong...he was always standing proud (still does), had a very upright tail until a week or so ago...was the loudest in the chick bin...but hopefully I'm wrong bc we already have 4 other for sure roos from older flocks!

I was just thinking about posting a similar question. I had already jumped into the genetic worm hole over the blue/lavender (much to my husband's dismay as well 😂.) So flash forward a few weeks & now we have a chick that had the exact appearance of a brown red chick (from another breeder, the color was unknown when they sent him to us) that's referenced on the ameraucana alliance forum, but now that his feathers are coming in he looks like a silver rooster!! I'm confused as he did not have any of the chipmunk pattern/colors the silver chicks display. I was wondering if maybe the brown red is his recessive color & the silver is the dominant color? I'm not even sure that's possible, but that's where the research has lead me to thus far, but I could be wrong. We did also get a silver hen from this breeder who had the chipmunk appearance & she has feathered out as a silver is expected to. So...I'm suspecting foul play in this roo for sure...just trying to figure out if he's breedable or if he will just create a mess...I'm curious as to what you may have found with yours...
Mine was not true Silver. he had green legs which is proof, so to speak, of an EE so somewhere in his genetic background there'd been a cross and the breeder I got the eggs from just kept breeding his dad and mom together and they must have had the same genes cause he looks just like his dad.
The son is the big pic the little pic is his dad....
From my understanding you'll have years of clean up and selective breeding to get them back to where they should be OR you can use in a EE/OE program and get a pure silver to work with. Just my thoughts.

In the picture those are not pure silver. They are goldens.

The only breed I haven’t tried that I might enjoy as much as d’Anvers are Modern Game bantams. They seem fun.
Man...why is every place I can find with the chickens I want located in frigging Wisco?!? I REALLY am kicking myself in the ass for not being interested in chickens when we lived up there...anyhoo...while looking for some blue wheatens I saw they also have modern game bantams & in Silver Birchen...made me think of this thread. If anyone is still looking.

Thanks for updating!! Here is mine...ended up not being a true silver either... I think she's gorgeous and would love any breeding ideas :) She is in with our EE flock & will probably stay there. Was thinking of breeding her with a blue ameraucana roo just to see what I get, but will see. She looked identical to your pics as a chick, we were positive she was a silver lol. We even named her Silvara because of it!! Here is her now! I need to get better pics of her...she has a gray/wheaten coloring towards her bottom that you can't see here...

Here's an updated pics. You maybe right about the gender...my bantam roo has been trying to mount this one all week lol...along with another we thought was a roo...jury is still out on some of them...I gave up trying lol just waiting for them to finally "pop" and let me know 😂. Ilove this ones lacing...photos don't do it justice...there is a ton of green beetle sheen on his whole body...

I was going to say pullet but now I think it looks like the roostery feathers are just about to come in.
So either your bantam rooster is trying to exercise his dominance or he’s just as confused as I am.
I haven’t got a clue.

Here's our Silvara...her coloring has changed SO much in the past 2 weeks!! These were just taken today. None of the lighter tan/wheaten looking feathers were there 2 weeks ago. The chicken of different colors, the many faces of Silvara.

That's awesome 😄 He has us all confused as well. My younger chicken expert says "he" is making hen sounds now...and he has started giving off a hen demeanor now in the past week...so we're all confused! Still showing signs of roo & doing the elongated neck sometimes...so mini could be exercising dominance. We haven't seen him attempt a suspected female EE until this morning. The bantam has his own separate run with his own girls, but keeping them contained just isn't possible right now as the mini roo has just this week started trying to mount his own girls & they aren't having it yet...they straight up just fly into one of the other runs...and heaven forbid anyone on our property starts an engine of any sort...lmao. So we have been having to let them in the EE run when we use the lawn mower or excavator just so they'll stay in a run. So, I'm thinking with mini roos hormones he might just be trying to get on anyone he can! We will all know soon enough...I hope. Suspense is killing me. Our Silvara was the 1st one to pop out a bright red in her comb this week...feathering is getting so muddled...I'm so confused 😂😂
