If I only got 1 Ameraucana hen, would it always lay the exact same egg color? IE, it lays a beige egg, would that mean it would always lay a beige egg for the rest of its life?

If I wanted a blue egg, would I have to get 10 Ameraucana's, find the 1 that lays blue eggs, keep it, and give away the 9 others?

I also have one Ameraucana and was told by the salesman that it would produce a blue/green egg.

As you, my Ameraucana produces an ivory colored egg and they are fairly large. In fact, the eggs are as large as my RIR.

You can check out my eggs on my post https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=82770-first-egg

I
found more posts about egg color and Ameraucanas from our BYC membership using the Toolbar search. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=489281

Some
clarification on the breeds can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Egger

Where did you get your "ameraucana" from? My leghorn was sold to me as an "ameraucana", after which I learned all about the breed and the difference between Ameraucana's and Easter Eggers. Even MOST Easter Eggers lay greenish eggs, so you may have something else entirely. Either way, you'll need to find a breeder of true Ameraucana's in your area to get a blue egg layer. Some Easter Egger eggs are blue, but you never know for sure what color/ shade they will be until they are laying. A well bred Ameraucana will ALWAYS lay blue eggs.
