I'm thinkking hes a Roo, very pretty too, If you hold him upside down, I think from what I heard, if you hold him/her down if it's a roo he kicks his legs like crazy, if a pullet she'll wont kick her legs but I think like mine do straight them out, or fold them in. and be all calm. X3 Looks sort of like an easter egger I think

Looks like a cockerel to me,but is not full ameraucana thats for sure,maybe a mix.BTW He is handsome!

My biggest concern is if it's a hen or cockerel. If it's a cockerel I'm going to have to get rid of him because they aren't allowed in my town.

That is an old wives (farmers?) tale, does not work for sexing, sorry, and it would apply to newly hatched chicks only. This is an adult bird who already has identifiable sex traits. No need to flip the poor guy on his back.


I do think you have a cockerel. I don't know if the seller would take it back, but I personally never take back a bird that has left this property, for disease prevention reasons. I have no idea what it's been exposed to after it leaves my place.

Of course, I know what breeds I'm selling and I won't tell someone the sex of a bird unless I'm very, very sure of it.

I vote roo too. If he was born in April, the comb wouldn't be that big and red. And no, not an Ameraucana. Sorry
