This is my favorite from the flock. 19 weeks old. Quick backstory. We got 10 chicks and 6 are roos. Including this one. I say its a cockerel due to his crowing. The great thing is that its not as loud as the others Im rehoming and it has a great temperament. So we are keeping him. Now is he a Ameraucana or EE??

Ameraucana cockerel.

To me though Ameraucana, & EE are basically the same(The EEs with beards/Muffs), it's just the "Ameraucana" has a standard(Specific colors, egg color, & Shank Color), while Easter Eggers can lay any color, & be any color.
They have a complicated history.

But also nowadays Easter Eggers now have other variants that maybe beardless, or crested, or both.

A local breeder but not to sure what to say as they gave us 40% pullets and 60% cockerel.
There is nothing wrong with that ratio if you bought straight run chicks. Straight run means unknown gender and “as is”. You could get all males or all females. It’s a roll of the dice.

Now, if you bought older chicks priced as sexed pullets, then I’d say that breeder owes you some replacements or a refund.

Nope, not straight run. “Vent sexed” she said. She showed us how it was done. But we should have done our homework.

We will rehome the rest of the Roos this weekend.

I picked up 5 different chicks from another reputable local breeder so we will see how that goes and the fun part to bring them into the flock later on. We would have 3 lavender Orpington, 1 EE and the Cockerel above all about 16-19 weeks old.

These 5 chicks are 2.5 weeks old now. We got a cream legbar. 1 light brahma, Ameraucana, olive egger and a Marans.

I have an all black pullet that looks sooo close to an Ameraucana...but this one thin scribbly brown line running thru her chest...thus she remains with the EE Flock. Yours looks great from the pics. I don't see anything that says EE. I'd say you got lucky!
