Ameraucana or EE? Pullet or Cockerels?

4's legs will probably turn a darker green, and since 1 has a pea comb that points to it being a yellow-legged EE. Very exciting, I can't wait to see what they grow up to look like!

I don't understand the comb comment. Isn't the Am standard for pea comb? So far, I've not found a point that 2 doesn't meet. Again, I'm still understanding the ODDS are for EE but I want to understand how to spot the correct standard.

Oh, on #1 I just meant EE rather than SLW or some other random breed because of the pea comb.

The one thing I'm seeing right now is that #1 and #2 appear to have yellow/orange beaks and yellow legs, and Ameraucanas really should have white skin, not yellow skin, meaning that the beak of a true Ameraucana would have blackish coloring on it (don't remember the official term) or would be a pure pinkish color, and the legs would be slate or would be pinkish in color to turn slate as they get older.

OH! That's a complete misunderstanding! I thought you were asking on 2, not 1. Probably because I'm so excited by 2 that my brain is mostly focusing on it. XD I'll have to give 1 another looksee to determine comb. I know they were hatching a lot of breeds at the same time. Cuckoo marans, slw, speckled sussex, EASTER EGGERS (/sigh), RIR, and some other stuff. It isn't improbable that it is a SLW. All auction eggs, from my understanding.

I came to the decision today that I just have to sell them all. Since I can't have cockerels (and I just experienced how hard it is to find a good home for those of common breeds), I can't risk having several EEs crowing. It would smash my heart and upset my neighbors. Someone with more land is buying them and they'll be able to keep them all if they choose. I realize when buying chicks that it is a 50/50 risk but with Ameraucanas, I don't think I'd have a terrible time finding them a home. I certainly didn't with my silver laced polish cockerel. Lesson learned: Research, print, bring, back down if it doesn't feel right.

Well thats kind of...odd. You don't even know what they are yet, getting chicks is not always 50/50 if it is a sexed pullet you still have 90% chance of it being that sex. Some of those could have been hens. you could have sold the roosters when you knew they were roosters. But eh, your choice.

Maybe odd to you but I live in a subdivision. Can't have cockerels crowing. Add that to the fact that it hurts to raise chicks as pets (because they're not just barnyard animals to my family) and then struggle to find them a home, having to basically give them away since they're not of a good breed (they aren't what I was told I purchased, that's rather apparent), and worrying if they became dog bait... No, I won't wait to see what they are. I don't have the room in my house and yard for 5 chicks that I don't plan to keep and can't find good homes for. EEs are REALLY common here. There are many people here trying to give away EE cockerels just NOW and there are still plenty of chicks being ordered since it is just starting to warm up. My full polish cockerel got a good home but I have struggled to find one for my mixed polish. You're right, my choice to not subject my family to watching them grow up and not be able to see all of the males get good homes. With rare or interesting breeds, we can make sure they're taken care of and not dinner, dog bait, or croc bait.
