Ameraucana, or EE

Yes she looked just like the picture, but the president of the Ameraucana Breeders club told me that this particular chipmunk coloring is not indicative of the breed, so I'm still not sure, and I'm just dying to know if she is what I thought I purchased, lol. So many people on here swear the bought an Ameraucana only to be told its an Easter Egger.

Silver ameraucanas and easter eggers look quite a bit alike. i believe yours is an EE, but i usually get silvers and some EEs confused. But Jean (president of ameraucana breeders club) is very educated . I saw your post on the ameraucana thread. You should post this picture on their and ask if it is a silver or EE and they will be able to tell you for sure. It would be easier for me to tell which you have if you had a chick picture.I am just very good at telling them apart at what I call the teen age.

Yes, from a breeder, but I think she just called herself a breeder, lol, because at this point I think I know more about what is and what isn't an Ameraucana than she did! Her legs are definitely green and the bottoms of her feet are yellow, so I'm just going to say EE from now on if someone asks what she is.

Good for you! I love it when people become educated about them and accept the truth instead of continuing to call their EE's "Americanas". I have both, EE's and purebreds and love them. My EE's are actually a bit friendlier and lay better.

Do you live near a real breeder? Have you checked the Ameraucana site? No matter what breed you want, I always like to find a breeder. So far, in my limited experience, I've found breeder birds to be nicer tempered than hatchery birds. Also, they often have better feather patterns, always a plus.

I plan to be much more careful the next time I add birds to my flock! I would love to have a lavender ameraucana, so I will definitely be finding a legitimate breeder for that addition! I found the ABC site to be extremely helpful.
